Alaska Usa Merges With Global Credit Union

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union has finalized a merger with Spokane-based Global Credit Union. The merger combines Alaska USAs 700,000 members with Globals 45,000 members, resulting in an organization with combined assets of nearly $12 billion, making it one of the fifteen largest credit unions in the country.
Alaska USA President and CEO Geoff Lundfelt remains in charge, while Jack Fallis, the president and CEO of Global, becomes Alaska USAs regional president of Pacific Northwest and international markets.
Global operates nine branches in Washington and Idaho and an additional three branches in Italy on US military installations. Alaska USA has sixty-seven branches in Alaska, Washington, California, and Arizona. The merger expands the combined organizations workforce to approximately 2,200 employees.

The merger was announced last October and required approval by the National Credit Union Administration and Global Credit Union members.
The company expects no change in customer service in the short term until a full system conversion in early 2023.
Global Credit Union Members Approve Merger With Alaska Usa
The Anchorage-based credit union will operate more branches in Washington than in its home state.
Members of Global Credit Union in Spokane, Wash., approved its merger with Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in Anchorage, creating a financial cooperative that will manage $11.4 billion in assets, operate 76 branches across five states and service more than 760,000 members.
The consolidation also means Alaska USA will have more branches in Washington than in its home state. Alaska USA operates 27 branches in its home state and 22 branches in Washington. Globals seven branches will increase Alaska USAs branches in the Evergreen State to 29.

Alaska Usa Global Credit Credit Unions Seeking Merger Approval
Spokane-based Global Credit Union and USA Alaska Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, are seeking regulatory approval for a merger.
If approved, the merger would result in a combined 745,000 members, 2,200 employees and assets of more than $11 billion.
The proposed deal would make it one of the 15 largest credit unions in the country, according to a news release.
Alaska USA has 67 branches in Alaska, Washington, California and Arizona. Global Credit Union operates 12 branches, nine of which are in the region. It also has three branches on U.S. military installations in Italy.
Under the merger, Global Credit Union will retain its name and expand service in the Spokane area and Coeur dAlene.
Our members and employees will benefit from the strength resulting from the combination of our organizations, Jack Fallis, Global Credit Unions president and CEO, said in a statement. Our members will enjoy the security and expanded services this merger will provide, while retaining Globals name, service and commitment they have come to rely on.
Fallis clarified in a email the two credit unions intend to merge and one is not acquiring another.
Global Credit Union was founded in 1954 as Fairchild Federal Credit Union to serve financial needs of military and civil service employees on Fairchild Air Force Base.
Upon completion of the merger, Alaska USA will extend employment to existing Global Credit Union workers.
