When the AVidXchange Music Factory entertainment complex in Uptown Charlottes Fourth Ward opened in 2009, the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre became the crown jewel of the incredible collection of bars, restaurants and music venues. Back then, it was known simply as the Uptown Amphitheatre in the NC Music Factory complex and even had a brief stint as the Road Runner Mobile Amphitheatre before gaining the name Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre. The sweeping outdoor space has a capacity of 5,000, with 2,000 reserved seats and another 3,000 on the sloped lawn. The venue boasts pristine sight lines to the stage, along with views of Charlottes skyline.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 5, 2021 Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union , a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution based in Charlotte, today announced that the members of Premier Federal Credit Union have approved the merger between the two organizations. Approval was received through online voting and mail-in ballots with a special meeting for questions and concerns held virtually on Zoom on Monday, March 29 at 12:00 p.m.
The merged credit union will offer expanded products, services and locations to members throughout the Charlotte metro region and defined areas in Kings Mountain, Forest City, Guilford County and Randolph County, North Carolina. The combined membership will be approximately 91,000 which will be served via an expanded portfolio of high-tech mobile products, 24/7 call center access, an extended ATM network and 17 branch locations. The newly formed credit union will have assets of approximately $1 billion.

Charlotte Metro Fcu To Expand Out Of The City
Planned acquisition of Premier FCU of Greensboro will occasion a new name.
Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union said it expects to complete its acquisition of Premier Federal Credit Union of Greensboro, N.C., in August, following approval of the merger by Premier members.
Charlotte Metro announced Monday that members of Premier voted online and by mail to approve the merger. A special meeting for questions and concerns was held virtually on Zoom on March 29.
Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union In North Carolina Rebrands As Skyla
Premier Federal Credit Union in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union in Charlotte, North Carolina, have rebranded after combining in August 2021.
The $1.1 billion-asset Charlotte Metro announced that it will operate as Skyla Credit Union across its entire footprint effective Wednesday, after it originally announced a name change as part of a proposed merger with the $222 million-asset Premier in February 2021.
“Following the merger of Charlotte Metro and Premier FCU, we knew we needed a brand that would embrace all of the communities we serve while symbolizing our mission to teach, guide, direct and educate our consumers so they may live a richer, more meaningful and expansive lifestyle,” Eric Gelly, president and chief executive of Skyla, said in a press release Wednesday.
The credit union posted net income of roughly $4.6 million for the first half of this year, down from approximately $7 million in the same period in 2021, according to call report data from the National Credit Union Administration.
“The new Skyla brand embodies our vision building financial freedom for all by providing the support and personalized banking experience to help you plan, implement and actually achieve your goals. At Skyla, we are focused on meeting you wherever you are in your financial journey with the tools, guidance and resources that turn possibility into reality,” Gelly added in the release.
