With Global Running Day Approaching Fleet Feet Is Making ‘my Big Run’ Virtual
JackRabbit was founded in 2011 as the Running Specialty Group, the specialty running store consolidation effort by The Finish Line, and was acquired in 2017 by affiliates of CriticalPoint Capital.
According to Fleet Feet, Jackrabbit.com will redirect to Fleetfeet.com as soon as the transaction finalizes in December, and long-term, JackRabbit branding will transition to Fleet Feet by the end of 2022. Also, Fleet Feet said it will incorporate its Fit ID 3D foot scanning experience into all locations by the end of Q1 2022 as part of its effort to infuse its brand experience at critical customer touchpoints.

The acquisition of JackRabbit is Fleet Feets latest strategic brick-and-mortar investment this year. This plan included the addition of four franchise locations over the past 10 months, which the company said in a statement was part of a succession plan for retiring owners. Also, Fleet Feet acquired Central Florida independent running retailer FitNiche.
Fleet Feet has opened five new stores this year, and said it has two more planned by years end.

After hitting a few snags on the way to the altar, Fleet Feet and JackRabbit have officially tied the knot and are off and running as running retails most prominent power couple. The purchase, which executives tell Running Insight will close today, includes nearly 60 JackRabbit locations across 15 states as well as JackRabbits e-commerce business.
With Fleet Feets acquisition initially slated to close on Dec. 7, the North Carolina-based chain had planned to immediately shut JackRabbit stores for two days of inventory and training. As the path to closing became bumpy, however, leadership tabled that effort at the last minute.
This week, meanwhile, Fleet Feet had also intended on hosting dozens of JackRabbit store managers and corporate personnel at its Carrboro, NC, headquarters for a review of Fleet Feets history and culture, strategic plans and opportunities for career growth and development. Fleet Feet CEO Joey Pointer tells Running Insight that gathering will now happen in early 2022.
With the holidays fast approaching, we want to respect everyones need and desire to be close to their stores, communities and families, Pointer says, noting that more than 20 JackRabbit corporate staffers covering areas such as purchasing, operations and customer service are joining the Fleet Feet enterprise.
Integration and our ability to do this well will define our success, Pointer says.
