About State Highway Patrol Federal Credit Union
The State Highway Patrol Federal Credit Union was founded January 14th, 1960, in Jackson, Ohio. The official name was OSHP District 9 Federal Credit Union. One year later, the official name of the credit union was changed to State Highway Patrol Federal Credit Union and the field of membership was expanded to include the State Highway Patrol statewide.
The credit union main office is now located in the Mettler Toledo building in Columbus at 1900 Polaris Pkwy Suite 400, and our second location is located in the State Highway Patrol Training Academy.
Today the credit union is a full-service financial institution serving members throughout Ohio. In 2021, the credit union passed the $80 million asset threshold.
We have certainly grown through the years however, our mission is still to serve the financial needs of our members by offering quality products and outstanding service, while remaining a financially sound institution.
Get Ready For Christmas
Starting November 1st it will be time again for apply for a Christmas loan. The Credit Union will be offering $1200 for 10 months and $1800 for 12 months. Members may apply from November 1st through January 31st. $20 application fee and proof of income required. Interest rate based on credit score and loans are subject to credit approval.
The week of Thanksgiving, November 21st through November 25th we will once again be offering our Black Friday loan. This year the loan is $1200 for 12 months at 2.25%. These are only available during this particular week but members may apply starting November 1st. $20 application fee and proof of income required. Loans are subject to credit approval.

Credit Unions are not for profit cooperatives unlike your traditional banks which are strictly for profit. A Credit Unions board of directors are all volunteers, unlike banks which have a highly paid board of directors. The Ohio Credit Union System is an Ohio-based American trade association for . The Ohio Credit Union System is composed of the Ohio Credit Union League , the Ohio Credit Union Foundation , OCULPAC , and OCUL Services Corp., a service & solutions supplier for credit unions. OCUS credit unions have over 2.6 million members and $16.9 billion in deposits and include both federal credit unions and credit unions chartered by Ohio.
OCUS is governed by a Board of Directors elected by its member credit unions. OCUS headquarters have been in Cincinnati, Ohio , Columbus, Ohio , Dublin, Ohio , and moved back to Columbus, Ohio, in 2008. Under OCUS, the State of Ohio is divided into thirteen chapters, with affiliated credit unions assigned to the chapters based on their geographic location.
In 2006, OCUS entered a four-year partnership with World Council of Credit Unions and Bolivian credit unions. The partnership seeks to create an electronic banking network in Bolivia with funding from USAID Bolivia. Employees of the Ohio Credit Unions are providing expertise and sharing technologies with Bolivian credit unions.
The Ohio Credit Union Foundation funds financial literacy programs and disaster relief efforts. The foundation granted $60,000 to the PBS television program Biz Kid$.
